Chris was born and raised in rural Scott County. He grew up on a family farm located between Donahue and Long Grove. His father was a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal, and his mother stayed at home to take care of their four children.

Brase graduated from North Scott High School in Eldridge in 1980, and went on to Scott Community College to receive a certificate of welding. While working full time, Chris continued taking classes to get his EMT certificate.

Chris started working for the Muscatine Fire Department in September of 1990, became a paramedic in 1994. Chris retired from the department after 29 years of service.

In addition to serving his community in his day job, Chris has been dedicated to serving, even off the clock. He has served as Trustee, VP, and President of the Muscatine Association of Firefighters, as well as Trustee and current Vice President of Iowa Professional Firefighters. He has also served as a Board Member of the Quad Cities Federation of Labor. From 2013 to 2016, Chris proudly served as the Senator from the 46th District, which represents parts of Muscatine and Scott counties.

In 1993, Chris married his wife, Donna, and the couple have three adult children: Veronica, Bill, and Amy, and four grandchildren: Riley, Hunter, Timber and Colton. Chris loves spending time with his family and enjoys the outdoors, hiking and camping.

Iowa is capable of so much more and that's why I've decided to run again for Iowa State Senate. We can be leaders in education, rebuild and improve our infrastructure including rural broadband and provide access to healthcare of Iowa. For this to happen it is essential to put partisanship to the side and listen to the needs of Iowans.
